The Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office consistently and with uniformity strives to maintain social order and provide professional law enforcement services to citizens in the community, within prescribed ethical, budgetary, and constitutional constraints. This agency strives to enforce the law and maintain order in a fair and impartial manner, recognizing the need for justice, and consistent appearance of justice.
The Sheriff recognizes that no law enforcement agency can operate at its maximum potential without supportive input from the citizens it serves. This agency actively solicits and encourages the cooperation of all citizens to reduce and limit the opportunities for crime and to assist in bringing to justice those that break the law.
Effective January 1, 2026, all civil service fees for the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office will
increase. Under section 57.280, RSMo, counties are required to submit fees for service of
any summons, writ, subpoena, or other order of the court for deposit into the Deputy
Sheriff Salary Supplementation Fund (section 57.278) and the Sheriffs’ Retirement Fund
(section 57.952). As a result of House Bill 147 being passed, our fees will be adjusted for
the first time since 2009. In addition, our mileage fees will also be updated. Effective
January 1, 2026, our flat mileage rate by city will increase to 70 cents per mile.
Enclosed you will find our new rate sheet. We do require EXACT funds to be sent prior to
service, so please contact us if you need assistance calculating fees. Additionally, we ask
that you provide and properly label the service documents, return documents, and include
a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return. Since different counties and states may
vary slightly with service requirements, this is the best practice to avoid any confusion or
delayed processing. Any special service instructions should also be clearly noted.
If you have any questions regarding our fees or procedures, please do not hesitate to
contact us. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to doing our best to assist
you.
Thank you,
~~ Sheriff Nick Darter
